With ForstControl, David Henzmann has decisively shaped the digital transformation of the Swiss forestry industry. Within just a few years, the software has developed into the leading solution for forestry companies - with over 10,000 users to date.
ForstControl digitizes central work processes in forestry: from service recording to order processing and invoicing. The business management view of the forestry operation is particularly valuable. "Wood is the most valuable asset," says Henzmann. Thanks to ForstControl, expenditure and income can be precisely analyzed - even for cost-intensive tasks such as maintaining fireplaces or hiking trails.
His success is no coincidence: Henzmann himself is a trained forest warden with over ten years of professional experience. His in-depth knowledge of the industry, combined with his entrepreneurial spirit, has led to the creation of a practical product. The Baden municipal forestry office is also a long-standing user. Head forester Georg von Graefe praises the increase in efficiency: "Our employees record their hours directly in the forest - structured by project, transparent and time-saving."
The platform was initially financed by strategic investors. In a second round, almost 200 private individuals are now participating - from as little as CHF 40. The goal is a version 3.0 with extended functions, which should now also enable the move into Germany and Austria.
With his growing company and his commitment to the region - for example with the fire department and civil defense - Henzmann remains down-to-earth. The success of ForstControl shows: Anyone who combines specialist knowledge with digital innovation can move an entire industry.
